The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has reflected on his political journey, saying he sometimes wonders why God led him away from his comfortable life into politics.

Speaking to his supporters, the former Anambra state governor said that if he ever had the opportunity to ask God a question, he would want to know why he was allowed to leave his comfort zone to pursue a career in politics.

Obi noted that he believed every position people find themselves is part of God’s plan and should be used to serve humanity.

“I’m a politician today, but if I ever have the opportunity to question God, I would ask Him why He allowed me to leave my comfort place and get involved in politics,” he said.

He added that regardless of life’s challenges, individuals should remain committed to improving the lives of others.

“Wherever we find ourselves is where God wants us to be, and we must do everything we can for the benefit of the masses,” Obi said.

The former governor also described his current position as a “product of divine grace,” saying he has a responsibility not to misuse the opportunities entrusted to him.

“I’m here by the grace of God and I must not abuse His grace, whether it’s in private, corporate, or government,” he stated.

Obi began his political career in the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), under which he served as governor of Anambra state.

 He later joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where he emerged as the party’s vice-presidential candidate in 2019.

Ahead of the 2023 general election, he moved to the Labour Party (LP), and contested the presidential election, finishing third.

He is in 2027 seeking Nigeria’s highest office again as the presidential candidate of the NDC. (Blueprint)
