National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Senator David Mark, and the party’s National Secretary, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, on Thursday asked voters to kick out the government of All Progressives Congress (APC) at the party’s final campaign rally in Ado-Ekiti ahead of Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti State.
The two party leaders called on residents of the state to vote for the ADC governorship candidate, Ambassador Dare Bejide, whom they described as the candidate capable of delivering responsive and people-oriented governance.
Addressing supporters at the grand finale rally, Aregbesola criticised the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), accusing it of failing to address the country’s economic and security challenges.
According to the former Osun State governor, Nigerians are paying the price of poor governance and deserve a leadership committed to improving their welfare.
“Your country has been abducted,” Aregbesola told the crowd, alleging that the nation’s resources are not being deployed in the interest of ordinary citizens.
He urged voters to reject the APC at all levels of government and embrace what he described as a new political direction capable of restoring hope and development.
Aregbesola further charged citizens to take responsibility for shaping the future of the country through their votes.
Senator Mark, in his remarks, said the people of Ekiti State deserved a governor who would reflect their aspirations and work in their best interest.
He urged eligible voters to come out in large numbers on election day and cast their ballots for the ADC candidate.
“After so many years, the people of Ekiti deserve the governor of their dreams. Come out en masse and vote for your candidate. I believe that by your votes, we shall return here for the inauguration of the new government that will be elected,” Mark said.
The ADC leadership also appealed to voters to resist inducement and vote according to their conscience.
Ambassador Dare Bejide, who is seeking to unseat the incumbent administration, pledged to provide effective leadership and address the developmental challenges facing the state if elected governor.
The rally attracted party supporters and stakeholders from across the state as the ADC intensified efforts to secure victory in the governorship election scheduled for Saturday.
The Ekiti governorship poll is expected to be keenly contested, with political parties making final appeals to voters ahead of the election.
