Just few hours after the Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara withdrew from the governorship race in the state, his kinsman, Blessing Fubara, picked the governorship nomination form of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The development has further fueled speculations about possible political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections, especially amid reports that some Fubara loyalists are already sinking their loyamty toward the NDC.

Investigations have shown that discussions are now shifting to what and who may be behind the new entrant into the race.

Providing some clarification, a youth leader, Ipalibo Dick, described the development as exciting and predicted that Blessing Fubara could record a large followership following the disgraceful way the APC treated Governor Fubara, had he secured the ticket.

Confirming the development, Rivers State NDC Chairman, Success Jack, boasted that the party is preparing so favourably for the 2027 elections, expressing confidence on the party’s opportunities across the state.

Fubara, a development strategist, urban renewal consultant, and grassroots mobilizer with experience in public sector advisory and youth empowerment initiatives, obtained his forms at the NDC headquarters in Abuja on Wednesday.

He dumped the All progressives Congress (APC) about two weeks ago for NDC.
