The Kaduna state government has recalled workers previously disengaged the administration of Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, settling outstanding debts amounting to over ₦500 million, the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs, Comrade Barde Yunana Markus, disclosed.

Speaking during a media briefing in Kaduna over the weekend, Markus said Gov. Sani’s administration had shown empathy in addressing welfare concerns, particularly those affecting civil servants who were removed from service contrary to the stipulated retirement age.

“Many workers who were unjustly removed are being reinstated, and in critical agencies like the water board, the government has cleared debts of over ₦500 million to ensure smooth operations. They are now back on the state payroll,” the commissioner said.

He added that the ministry was working with agencies such as the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to tackle poverty, respond to disasters, and provide support for the vulnerable.

Highlighting broader achievements of the administration, Markus said strides have been recorded in health, agriculture, education, security and infrastructure. 

He noted that fertilizer was now given free to farmers across the state, while a new 300-bed hospital at Millennium City has been completed and equipped for public use.
