Residents of Maradun town, headquarters of Maradun local government area of Zamfara state are under threat to pay a N20 million levy placed on them by a bandits kingpin Jummo or get attacked.

Maradun is the home town of Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle.

In a message he sent to residents of Maradun, Jummo further stated the need to allow bandits to move freely to markets with their animals as part of the conditions to allow the people to access their farms.

“Nothing prevents us from attacking Maradun town, let me tell residents here categorically that I can solicit the support and cooperation of 100 kingpins to join me in ransacking Maradun town any time,” he stated.

He added that for the residents to access their farms freely, they have to raise N20 million as ransom, failure which would make their farms to remain inaccessible.

“Our boys will be patrolling the area to send farmers back home, without working on the farms,” he stated.
