A two-storey building under construction has collapsed along Craig Street, Shomolu, Lagos, during the decking process.

The structure is one of two buildings being erected at the site.

The actual engineering cause of the collapse has not yet been ascertained as of the time of this report.

The building’s pillars reportedly fell on a nearby church, which resultantly experienced partial damage.

Fortunately, no casualty or injuries were recorded, and worshippers inside the church escaped unharmed.

Emergency officials conducted coordinated searches of the site to confirm that no individuals were trapped beneath the debris.

The construction site has since been cordoned off, while officials from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), carried out public sensitisation and safety awareness in the area.
