Similar questions remain unasked about the Labour Party Presidential candidate Peter Obi, less than 90 days to the presidential ballot scheduled for February 25, 2023.
The Obi-Datti Media Office, aware of this healthy concern, wants to answer why the Labour Party’s Peter Obi has garnered so much in the lead-up to the February election.
Before the current race for the presidency, Obi had been a two-term governor of Anambra State, beqeathing a legacy of performance worthy of emulation.
Besides his track record of performance, Obi has a lot of what other presidential runners have not, starting with his mien which is an indication of his sincerity of purpose. Indeed, his character is appealing and convincing to the people particularly the younger elements.
Obi has come out when a majority of voters are already fed up with the old brigade in politics and yearning to have Nigeria and its national economy led out of the woods.
At the moment, Obi is the right man for the job and at the right time, coming out when Nigerians are already overstretched by poor leadership consequences. Obi is the only candidate driving his campaign on issues and showing that he has a clear knowledge of their prevailing challenges. His messages resonate with the people because they are true and verifiable.
Obi has enviable antecedents and an attractive performance record that is next to none. His fiscal discipline, high moral standing, and corruptionfree record in the handling public funds make him an uncommon candidate for the presidency in 2023.
His age, health status, and intellectual depth ensure he is available and ready to respond to the people’s desires, meaning he does not reach the people by proxy, through attack dogs or spokespersons.
Obi is a political torchbearer who, through his deep knowledge of issues borne out of research, unearths the evils in the system. But for Obi, crude oil theft was held in doubt but when Obi addressed and analysed the national malaise, those behind it who had thought they would not be known began to adjust and struggle to clear themselves.
It was after Obi’s revelation that crude oil theft cannot happen without people in the system that both the Navy, the NNPC, and the Federal Government’s Security Consultant began to defend themselves and make some arrests.
It was also through Obi’s humanitarian concern and intervention that flood victims across the country got a deserving attention either from federal government and other national and international donors.
Perhaps, the Abuja woman who asked the Obi question would also like to know that the Labour Party presidential candidate is an educated trader. He made money and created wealth doing legitimate business. With a clear verifiable source of wealth.
He also went to the world’s best educational institutions, acquiring knowledge for leadership.
The Anambra governor between 2006 to 2014 left office with unprecedented records yet to be surpassed in infrastructural development, accountability, and investment to earn him the Governor Of The Decade award.
Obi has a place of origin, history and curriculum vitae that can be tracked from public records. Obi has an attribute encompassing competence, capacity, and character which he flaunts without let or hindrance.
All this Obi has; other runners do not. Little wonder he is eminently qualified for the goodwill of the younger generations of Nigerians of all walks of life, North and South, Muslim and Christian.
Not the least, Peter Obi, the presidential flag bearer of the Labour Party, is a Nigerian, not Igbo, Fulani, Yoruba, or of any ethnic group seeking the people’s votes Obi wants to be a Nigerian president based on the three Cs of character, competence, and capacity.
It is for these unique attributes that Peter Obi and the OBI-dient Movement are changing the political narratives of Nigeria and are at the centre of topical political conversations.
