Oyo PDP names Bayo Lawal as Makinde’s running mate

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state has named Bayo Lawal as replacement to a deputy to Governorship candidate to run with Governor Seyi Makinde in the 2023 election, following the resignation and cdefection of Deputy Governor, Rauf Olaniyan

The replacement was made barely 48 hours after the defection of Oyo Deputy Governor Rauf Olaniyan from the ruling People’s Democratic Party(PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC),

Leaders of the PDP from Oke Ogun region nominated Lawal, who is currently the Chairman, Oyo State Housing Corporation, as running mate of Governor Seyi Makinde for the 2023 election at a meeting which was held on Monday.

The meeting was attended by Makinde; Oyo PDP chairman Kunmi Mustapha; Chairman State Advisory Council Senator Hosea Agboola, party leaders, elders and leaders from the Oke Ogun region.

The announcement was made after a closed door meeting of the stakeholders at the Presidential Lodge, Government House, Agodi, Ibadan on Tuesday.
