Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has gifted N2 million each to 20 of his Secondary School classmates at the Dennis Memorial Grammar School (DMGS), Onitsha, Anambra State.

The decision to uplift some of his colleagues at the DMGS class of 1992 came after a reunion which Cubana was said to have hosted in Abuja.

The popular socialite had paid the flight ticket of those who couldn’t afford it to the venue and then supported them with N2 million each, a cumulative amount of N40 million.

The gesture has put Cubana at the top of Nigeria’s Twitter trend, with many praising his kind gesture.

@90sSophie said: “Respect Obi Cubana. Man supports 20 of his old time classmates, with 2Million naira each! God keep him alive.”

@firstladyship said: “Not every rich person has the spirit of giving. Obi Cubana gifting N2m each to 20 of his struggling high school classmates is another level of kindness.

“N40m can fetch a decent 4 bedroom bungalow in Nigeria. It is one thing to have money, to be generous with it, is not so easy.”

@Kelechii_Imo said: “Obi Cubana has set a standard! Just saw a video of the kind donation he pledged to some of his classmates who are not doing so well. I’ve always maintained, the act of giving comes from within.

“You don’t give because you are rich, you give because it is in you!”

@SirDavidBent said: “Obi Cubana’s classmates probably didn’t see that coming. I like the fact that he’s very generous and benevolent. #2 Million naira in this crazy economy would probably go a long way in their lives.

“Unfortunately, all my classmates still dey trenches. One day, e go better.”
