The Chief Security Officer (CSO) to the late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, Major Hamza Al-Mustapha (rtd.), has dismissed renewed claims that the former military maximum ruler died during an intimate encounter with a woman.
Reacting to a recent publication, Al-Mustapha described the report as false and misleading, insisting that he possesses CCTV footage capturing Abacha’s final moments, which, according to him, disproves the long-circulated narrative surrounding the late leader’s death.
He maintained that the footage provides a factual account of the circumstances leading to Abacha’s demise and challenged the continued circulation of what he termed “fabricated stories” about the former Head of State.
General Sani Abacha died on June 8, 1998, while serving as Nigeria’s military ruler.
Subsequently, conflicting accounts and speculation have surrounded the circumstances of his death, with no generally accepted official explanation.
Al-Mustapha’s latest remarks have reignited public debate over one of Nigeria’s most controversial historical events.
The former CSO did not provide the CCTV footage, nor provide further proof of his latest claims, pushing his statements as an assertion, rather than confirmed evidence.
The circumstances surrounding the death of General Sani Abacha remain one of the most debated chapters in Nigeria’s political history.
While Major Hamza Al-Mustapha’s assertion has introduced another perspective, it has however, failed to provide the musch needed fool-proof evidence to rest the speculations.
