Security operatives, on Monday, stormed the Abuja residence of a former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice (AGF), Abubakar Malami, SAN, in Abuja, ejecting those found in the building.

The former Chief Law Officer of the Federation decried such, saying it’s a clear violation of his fundamental rights.

It was gathered that the incident occurred shortly after former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar, visited the Maitama residence.

Atiku was said to have spent close to one hour in the building before leaving.

One of Atiku’s aides confirmed the visit, while another witness said the security officers had already surrounded the house during the meeting, but only moved in after Atiku left the premises.

This was carried out on the midst of growing pressure on opposition figures like Malami to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Critics have accused President Bola Tinubu of trying to weaken his opponents ahead of the 2027 general elections, but the President and his handlers have denied the allegations.

Malami has been facing trial for alleged corruption, a case observers believe may be politically motivated.

Atiku shared photos from his visit to Malami earlier in the day, but did not comment on the raid.

No arm of the nation’s security agencies issued a statement regarding the alleged invasion.
