In a surprising turn of events, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has extended an olive branch to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, inviting him and other senators to a project commissioning event in Kogi State next week.
The invitation, contained in a personally signed letter by Akpoti-Uduaghan, was read aloud in plenary by Akpabio himself, signaling a possible thaw in the frosty relationship between the two lawmakers.
According to the letter, the event is scheduled to take place on Sunday in Ihima, Kogi State, marking Akpoti-Uduaghan’s second year anniversary as a serving senator. The meeting point is her residence at Plot 101 Jimoh Akpoti Street, Ihima, Okene, Kogi State.
Akpabio, seemingly pleased with the invitation, congratulated Akpoti-Uduaghan in advance, saying “Congratulations in advance”.
This development comes after a tumultuous period between the two, which began in February when Akpoti-Uduaghan was involved in a heated argument with Akpabio over seat re-allocation in the Senate chamber. The feud escalated, leading to Akpoti-Uduaghan’s six-month suspension from the Senate on March 6.
However, since resuming her duties on September 24, Akpoti-Uduaghan has been gradually rebuilding bridges with Akpabio, contributing to proceedings and engaging in constructive dialogue. This latest invitation marks a significant step towards reconciliation.
