The Chairman of Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers, His Royal Majesty, Igwe Samuel Asadu, (Igwe Ogadagidi) has commended the state Governor, Dr Peter Mbah for keeping to his promises with the people of the state.

Igwe Asadu said this in Enugu on Monday in an interview with newsmen while reacting to the state’s transition from existing primary and junior secondary schools to Smart Green Schools.

He described the governor as a “technocrat extraordinary”, stating that the smart green schools initiative “is a game changer in the state’s primary on secondary education sector that will nurture future leaders.”

“We are lucky to have Mbah as our Governor, he is a technocrat extraordinary, a promise-keeping governor who kept his promises to Ndi Enugu against all odds.

“The smart green schools, one in every ward of Enugu are a game changer, they are full‑blown innovation schools designed to foster 21st‑century skills, as well as integrate cutting-edge technology into classrooms, ensuring that students are equipped with the digital skills necessary for the modern world.

“With this, Governor Mbah has revolutionised the State’s educational landscape, making public primary and secondary Schools in Enugu more competitive and attractive than private schools,” he said.

The monarch who is the traditional ruler of Edem-Ani Ogwugwu Ancient Kingdom in Nsukka LGA of Enugu State, and the immediate past Chairman, Southeast Council of Traditional Rulers, as well as Member, Board of Trustee Council of Traditional Leaders of Africa (Nigeria Chapter), expressed gratitude to the governor for transforming the state and turning Enugu into a modern, smart state within few years of his administration.

He insisted that Enugu state has witnessed a turnaround in all sectors of its economy attributing it to the governor‘s deliberate efforts to redefine the face of governance.

“Mbah’s visionary leadership has translated into unprecedented infrastructural development across critical sectors.

“The allocation of 33% of the 2025 budget to education, which gave birth to the construction of 260 Smart Green Schools, as well as the establishment of 260 functional health centres across the State, and numerous other completed and ongoing projects is remarkable and deserves commendation,” he said.

The Governor had in a broadcast on Monday morning to announce the commencement of the smart green school in the state said the shift from old school structures and learning by memorisation to world-class infrastructure and experiential learning had become imperative to equip Enugu children with knowledge and skills to compete in the global economy.
