The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, on Wednesday said the vast land in the north is untapped jewel that can make Nigeria a prosperous country away from the current status of just borrowing for consumption.

Obi made this statemwnt when his campaign team went to the North-East state of Gombe otherwise known as the Jewel of the Savannah.

He told a mammoth crowd that the rebirth of the country is not achievable without turning the vast land in the country into “gold and oil,” and rescue it from bandits and terrorits which the current administration have allowed to freely pillage.

“The vast arable land of the North is a new vista that must be opened up to serve Nigeria and Africa,” he stated.

Obi pointed out that the agricultural potentials in the north is infinite and it is through agriculture that the nation can pull people out of poverty, export goods, earn revenue and increase its foreign exchange earnings.

He also said that he and his running mate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, have the vigour to do whatever they promise, stressing that they have clear record of achievements in public and private.

He told the people they will invest heavily in education and health because they are both needed to develop and tap the potentials of human capital for growth and development.

Obi told the cheering women that their children must go back to school as he and Baba-Ahmed will do everything to secure the country and the people will live well again.

“Nigerians want security, we cannot do anything unless we have a secure Nigeria. Nigerian children must not be out of school,” he said.

Baba-Ahmed and the National Chairman of Labour Party, Julius Abure, as well as other party faithful underscored the speech of the candidate that the LP will create a new Nigeria which will become the probe of the black race and envy of the world.
