A labour Party Senatorial Aspirant for Enugu-North Senatorial Zone, Amb. Ejike Eze has dropped his ambition to contest the forthcoming general elections.
In addition, he has dumped the labour Party and may go back to the ruling All progressive Congress.
Speaking in an exclusive interview, he said that after a critical evaluation of the political situation in the country, he decided to back down from the elections.
According to him, with the ruling party in power at both the state and federal level, it would be foolhardy for anyone to contest against APC in Enugu State and expect to win.
“Having contested for the same position during the last election, it will be a sheer waste of resources contesting in an opposition party”, he argued.
On his next political move, the diplomat turned politician said he would be rejoining the APC he earlier dumped for the labour Party.
Eze maintained that with the ruling party at the federal and state governments, it would be easier to attract more developmental projects.
He however cautioned the All Progressive Congress not to take the forthcoming general elections for granted to avoid a repeat of the 2023 experience where the labour Party swept the polls.
Ambassador Ejike Eze had earlier dumped the All Progressive Congress following the sidelining of foundation members of the party by the governor upon decamping from the Peoples Democratic Party.
In protest, some of these former APC members left the party to the various opposition parties.
