Former Governor of Imo State, Sen. Rochas Okorocha, has been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force on Monday, October 12, 2026, at REIZ Continental Hotel in Abuja Central Area, over allegations of criminal conspiracy, forgery and impersonation.

The arrest was carried out after the former governor reportedly evaded repeated police invitations in connection with an on-going criminal investigation, prompting the police to obtain a bench warrant for his arrest at an Abuja Chief Magistrates Court.

Okorocha was initially invited to the Force Headquarters, Abuja, on September 2, 2026, but the appointment was rescheduled to September 8 at the request of his lawyers, a date he failed to honour.

After the news of the bench warrant was issued, Okorocha, through his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo, denied any such court process or warrant, demanding retraction from the news media that published the news story and threatening them with court action to press for damages.
