Afrobeats singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has vowed to confront Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, over his remarks about Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke.
Davido made the threat on Sunday, hours after Adeleke was declared winner of the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
The singer, in a post on his Instagram page, tagged Okpebholo and indicated that he would respond to the governor over comments he had previously made about Adeleke.
“@he_Mondayokpebholo get ready my brother! Make I sleep first. Nah me and you tomorrow,” Davido wrote.
The development followed a political exchange between the two figures during the Osun governorship campaign.
Okpebholo, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), had campaigned for the party’s candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, while criticising Adeleke’s performance as governor.
During one of the campaign engagements, the Edo governor mocked Adeleke over his public dancing, suggesting that the Osun governor was more focused on dancing than governance.
Addressing voters, Okpebholo had said: “For four years, this man has been dancing. Before he takes breakfast, before he drinks tea, he will dance. Are you not tired?”
Davido, who has openly supported Adeleke, subsequently responded by sharing what he described as Okpebholo’s alleged West African Examinations Council (WAEC) result on his Instagram Story.
The result, which had previously circulated on social media during political controversies in 2024, reportedly showed that Okpebholo sat for six subjects in 2008, recording four D7 grades, one E8 and one C5.
The alleged result attracted renewed public attention after Davido shared it amid the political exchanges involving the two governors.
Davido’s latest post suggests that the singer intends to continue the public exchange with the Edo governor, although he did not disclose the specific nature of his planned response.
The development comes against the backdrop of the conclusion of the Osun governorship election, in which Adeleke secured re-election, defeating his major challengers in the contest.
