Raising serious alarm over unexpected activities around his personality, former Vice-President and 2027 presidential candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, has raised concerns over what he described as a suspected breach of his private banking information after an unknown individual reportedly transferred money into one of his personal accounts.

In a statement on Friday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, the ADC Presidential candidate stated that the transaction was made into a private account domiciled with a leading commercial bank in Nigeria.

While expressing that there is a foul play, Atiku pointed out that the payment carried the narration, “Contribution Electioneering Campaign,” despite the fact that neither Atiku nor his campaign team had solicited, authorised or had any knowledge of the sender.

He described the development as disturbing, because the account involved is strictly private and its details are not publicly available.

The former number two citizen questioned how an unknown individual gained access to the confidential banking details, warning that the incident raises broader concerns about the safety of Nigerians’ financial data.

He further argued that “if the private banking information of a former Vice-President and a leading presidential candidate can be accessed and deployed for reasons yet unknown, then no Nigerian’s financial privacy is safe.”

According to Atiku the leak may have originated from persons with privileged access to sensitive information, and warned that such exposure could place account holders at risk from kidnappers, terrorists, bandits, fraudsters and other criminal elements.

The ADC chieftain also alleged that the incident forms part of what he described as a series of suspicious activities ahead of the 2027 general elections and urged security agencies to take note.
