Suspected bandits have reportedly abducted several travellers who were part of a wedding convoy travelling from Sheme in Katsina State to Kebbi State, in another incident highlighting the persistent security challenges facing parts of Nigeria’s North West.
The victims were said to be accompanying a bride to Kebbi when the convoy came under attack along the route.
The incident was made public by North West conflict tracker Bakatsine, who disclosed it in a post on his X account on Saturday.
He appealed to the public to remember the victims in their prayers, stating that some members of the wedding party were taken away by the armed attackers.
According to the post, the convoy had departed Sheme in Katsina State for Kebbi State before encountering the gunmen, who reportedly abducted several occupants during the journey.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities had yet to confirm the attack or provide official details.
