The Senate President, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, on Wednesday, assured Nigerians that insecurity will soon be resolved under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stressing that the administration is giving the issue its “utmost attention.”
Akpabio gave the assurances while receiving members of the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria, led by it’s National President, Dr. Lima Ahmed, at the National Assembly in Abuja.
A statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom, quoted the Senate President as saying the recent release of abducted school children in Oyo State was proof of government action.
“As Nigerians we are all aware of the insecurity challenges we are currently facing… President Bola Ahmed is giving the situation its utmost attention.
“I can assure you that very soon, the issue of security would be a thing of past. Don’t rely on what you hear or see in the social media, they are not true reflection of what is happening in our country,” he stated.
Akpabio also spoke on women in politics, attributing the reluctance of some women to support female candidates to past failures by women who “misused” opportunities in office.
He further assured the golfers of the Senate’s support for their forthcoming international Ladies tournament to be hosted at the IBB International Golf Course in Abuja.
Earlier, Dr. Ahmed thanked Akpabio for receiving the delegation and formally invited him to the tournament.
She decorated him as Grand Patron of the association.
