The presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Peter Obi, has expressed profound relief over the safe rescue of the schoolchildren who were recently kidnapped, describing their return as “worthy of thanksgiving.”

In a statement issued on Saturday, Obi commended all those whose tireless efforts led to the children’s freedom, paying special tribute to security personnel and others who worked behind the scenes to secure their safe release.

“I am greatly relieved and delighted to learn of the safe rescue of the schoolchildren who were kidnapped.

“I sincerely thank all those whose tireless efforts made their freedom possible, especially the security personnel and everyone who worked behind the scenes,” he said.

While celebrating the successful rescue, Obi stressed that the recurring abduction of schoolchildren remains a grave national concern that demands urgent and decisive action.

According to him, no child should be subjected to the trauma of kidnapping, urging government at all levels to strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture and make the protection of lives and property its foremost responsibility.

He further emphasized that every Nigerian child deserves to receive an education in an atmosphere of safety rather than fear, calling for sustained efforts to build a country where children can pursue their education free from the threat of violence and abduction.

Obi rejoiced with the rescued children, their families, their schools, and all Nigerians, describing the development as a heartening reminder that collective commitment and effective action can produce positive outcomes.
