Kano, Jigawa and Katsina States will experience a planned power outage on Sunday, 28th June 2026, as TCN carries out maintenance works at the 330kV Kumbotso Substation from 9:00 a.m to 1:00 p.m.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) on Friday.

The upgrade, according to the statement, is a critical investment that would strengthen the national grid and enhance the transmission capacity of the network, thereby improving electricity supply to customers in the region and the overall resilience of Nigeria’s power system.

“During the maintenance period, electricity supply will be temporarily interrupted in Kano, Jigawa and Katsina States.

“We regret any inconvenience this outage may cause and sincerely appreciate the public for their patience, understanding and cooperation,” the statement added.

The maintenance work at the Kumbotso Substation is part of TCN’s ongoing efforts to improve transmission infrastructure, strengthen grid stability and enhance the capacity of the national electricity network to deliver more reliable power supply to Nigerians.
