The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, is set to hold its 109th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting Wednesday at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, amid expectations that key decisions affecting the future of the opposition party will be deliberated upon.

The NEC is expected to bring together members of the National Working Committee (NWC), governors, former governors, members of the Board of Trustees (BoT), National Assembly members, and other critical stakeholders.

According to a notice issued by the faction’s National Directorate of Publicity, Chinwe Nnorom on Tuesday, the day’s activities will commence with the National Working Committee (NEC) meeting at 11:00 a.m. at the NWC Hall.

This will be followed by the meeting of the Board of Trustees (BoT) at noon in the NEC Hall, before the main 109th NEC meeting begins at 2:00 p.m.

The meeting is expected to review developments within the PDP, assess on-going reconciliation efforts, and chart a course for strengthening the party ahead of future electoral contests.

As part of the day’s events, the party leadership is also expected to present Certificates of Return to newly elected party officials, a move seen as part of efforts to consolidate the party’s internal democratic processes and strengthen its organisational structure.

The meeting comes at a crucial period for the PDP as it seeks to reposition itself as a formidable opposition platform and address challenges arising from recent political developments across the country.

The statement urged members of the PDP Press Corps and other journalists to attend the meetings and provide comprehensive coverage of the proceedings.

Similarly the Tanimu Turaki faction of the party also scheduled to meet with it’s gubernatorial candidates on the same day at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.

In a notice signed by it’s Interim National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Ini Emenobong, the faction said that the meeting is to ensure that party and it’s candidates are on the same page ahead of the general election holding in January, 2027.
