The Presidential aspirant of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC),  Peter Obi has dismissed as false, reports circulating online claiming that he secured 45 million votes in a purported primary election conducted by the party.

The Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) in a statement signed by Ibrahim Umar, the spokesman, described the figures as fabricated and insisted that no such primary election took place.

The statement urged the public and media organisations to disregard the alleged results.

“The figures are entirely false and fabricated. The primary never took place and no figure was generated from any process,” the statement said.

POMR stressed that all official information relating to Obi’s political engagements or participation in any electoral process would be communicated through verified and authorised channels.

The media office further accused those behind the circulation of the figures of attempting to associate the former governor with fraudulent activities.

“Those behind this fraudulent figure attribution to Peter Obi are looking for partners in their fraud, but they should look elsewhere, not with Peter Obi,” the statement added.

The clarification comes amid heightened political activities and speculation surrounding preparations for the 2027 general elections.

POMR reiterated its call on party supporters, members of the public and media organisations to rely only on officially verified statements regarding Obi’s political activities.
