A pro-Goodluck Jonathan movement, Goodluck Nigeria, has said that it has commenced grassroots mobilisation across 12 northern states following a Federal High Court judgement that dismissed a suit seeking to stop the former president from contesting the 2027 presidential election.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by Emma Umerah, convener Goodluck Nigeria movement, the group said the court decision has renewed momentum among supporters of Jonathan, with ward-level coordination structures already being activated in parts of the North.
Speaking in Kano, the movement’s state coordinator, Mallam Mohammed Isa, said attention had shifted from legal disputes to political organisation at the grassroots.
“The court has spoken. The question now is what Nigerians want,” he said.
According to him, many Nigerians, particularly in the North, were demanding stability, experience and national unity ahead of the next general election.
The movement disclosed that its WhatsApp and Telegram coordination platforms recorded more than 3,000 new members within 24 hours of the ruling, while physical mobilisation meetings were held over the weekend in several local government areas across Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Bauchi, Niger and Plateau states.
Also speaking, the Niger State coordinator of the group, Mohammed Babajiya Mohammed, said supporters were building political structures from the ward level in preparation for broader national engagement.
“We are not waiting for Abuja. The people on the ground are building structures from the ward up,” he said.
The group further revealed plans to submit a citizens’ memorandum on national priorities to Jonathan within seven days, focusing on security, economic recovery and national cohesion.
National Mobilisation Lead of the movement, Daniel Ochuko, said the organisation would continue consultations and peaceful mobilisation across party lines.
“We respect former President Jonathan’s right to consult widely before making any decision. Our role is to ensure that when he decides, he sees an organised and peaceful nationwide movement ready to work,” he stated.
Goodluck Nigeria is a citizen led movement advocating for the return experienced , unifying leadership ahead of the 2027 general elections, the group operates through state and ward coordinators across Nigeria.
