Senator Ned Nwoko of Delta North suffered a crushing defeat at the Ute-Okpu Ward 9 polling unit in Ika North East Local Government Area during the All Progressives Congress senatorial primary election. While his opponent, former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, scored 6,922 votes in that polling unit, Nwoko received only three votes.

The election at the polling unit was supervised by a representative of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mrs. Kristana Mungi.

While it is still unclear what the results from other polling units look like, reports indicate that Okowa’s overwhelming support across multiple wards in the district would eventually make him the winner of the election.

Okowa joined the APC barely a year ago alongside his successor, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and the entire structure of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State.
