The presidential ambition of Mohammed Hayatu-Deen has received a significant boost following his endorsement by the ADC Vanguard Support Group (VSG) ahead of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) primary elections. The endorsement was announced at a well-attended event held at his campaign office in Abuja, where more than 500 party members, civil society representatives, and supporters from across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones gathered to rally behind the aspirant.
Speaking at the event, the Convener of the group, Comrade A.A. Abdulkadir, described Hayatu-Deen as a candidate with the experience and credibility required to reposition both the party and the country.
According to him, “Mohammed Hayatu-Deen is the candidate this party needs and the leader Nigeria deserves. He brings a wealth of experience spanning decades of institution-building and job creation, which is critical at this point in Nigeria’s history.”
Abdulkadir emphasised that the endorsement was based on what he described as the aspirant’s track record and perceived capacity to unify the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He added that Nigeria’s current socio-economic challenges require leadership focused on competence and delivery, rather than political rhetoric.
The support group also urged party delegates and stakeholders to align behind Hayatu-Deen, noting that the ADC was established to provide a credible alternative to existing political structures.
Responding to the endorsement, Hayatu-Deen expressed appreciation to the group and reaffirmed his commitment to the party’s vision.
“I am deeply grateful for this show of confidence. The ADC represents a genuine opportunity for Nigeria to move away from the cycle of unfulfilled promises and toward a future built on results and accountability,” he said.
The former chairman of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group noted that his campaign remains focused on offering practical solutions to issues such as unemployment, economic instability, and insecurity.
The endorsement further strengthens Hayatu-Deen’s position within the party, as the race for the ADC presidential ticket continues to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.
It is believed that Hayatu-Deen will square up against former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi and other political heavy weight for the party’s ticket.
