President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed Nigeria’s solidarity with the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf nations affected by recent attacks linked to the ongoing tensions involving the United States, Israel and Iran.

The President gave the assurance on Thursday at the State House in Abuja while receiving Letters of Credence from newly appointed ambassadors and high commissioners, including envoys from Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

Tinubu commended the Gulf countries for their resilience and restraint in the face of heightened hostilities, stressing that Nigeria remains committed to promoting peace and global stability.

“Let me first of all congratulate all of you and use this opportunity to say that the Federal Republic of Nigeria expresses its full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Kuwait, the Kingdom of Bahrain, the Sultanate of Oman, and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in the face of the recent attacks,” the President said.

“The world needs tranquillity, peace and love. We share that solidarity with all of you in that region.”

Among the diplomats who presented their credentials were Qatar’s Ambassador, Yousef Mohammed Ahmed Mohammed Al-Hail; Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador, Yousef Bin Mohammed Albalawi; Lebanon’s Ambassador, Wissam Kalakeche; Sudan’s Ambassador, Mohammed Abdelaal Haroun; and Namibia’s High Commissioner, Walda Natangwe Ndevashiya.

Others include Rwanda’s High Commissioner, Moses Rugema; Somalia’s Ambassador, Mohamed Osman Mohamed; Argentina’s Ambassador, Nicolas Perazzo Naon; and Congo’s Ambassador, Moyongo Dieudonne.

The President described the ceremony as a milestone in strengthening Nigeria’s bilateral relations with the countries represented, urging the envoys to convey his goodwill to their respective heads of state and government.

He reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to deepening diplomatic ties for mutual prosperity and advancing cooperation in key areas such as economic development, infrastructure, and democratic governance.

Tinubu noted that Nigeria’s foreign policy would continue to guide its global engagements, positioning the country as a competitive destination for investment and innovation.

He also highlighted Nigeria’s role within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), stressing the importance of regional integration, constitutional order, and stabilisation of the Sahel.

According to him, global challenges—including climate change, energy transition, terrorism, and inequities in the international financial system—require collective action by nations and multilateral institutions.

“The global community today faces a complex web of overlapping crises… Nigeria stands ready to work with your governments bilaterally and in multilateral forums to advocate for a fairer, more secure world order,” he said.

The President assured the envoys of full cooperation from Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant agencies to ensure the success of their diplomatic missions.

He also encouraged them to explore Nigeria beyond Abuja, highlighting the country’s cultural diversity and economic potential.

Speaking on behalf of the envoys, Qatar’s ambassador thanked the President for the warm reception and pledged to strengthen diplomatic and economic relations between their respective countries and Nigeria.
