2027: Wike-backed PDP pegs presidential governorship forms at N50m, N20m respectively

The Wike- backed group in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced Monday as the start of form sales for all elective offices ahead of the 2027 general election.

The group also announced that the presidential primary election will hold from Sunday to Monday, 17 -18 May 2026, while governorship primaries will hold on Wednesday, May 27, 2026; Senate primaries on Saturday, May 23, 2026; House of Representatives primaries on Thursday, May 21, 2026; and State Assembly primaries on Monday, May 25, 2026. All appeals from election outcomes will be heard on Saturday, May 30, 2026.

In a notice published by the party’ s National Organizing Secretary, Umar Bature, on Wednesday, the party pegged its presidential nomination form at fifty million naira only, while aspirants are expected to pay an additional one million naira only for the expression of interest form.

Similarly, governorship aspirants are expected to pay a total sum of twenty million naira only, for the nomination form; while Senatorial aspirants will pay five million naira only, House of Representatives aspirants three million naira, and State Assembly aspirants two million naira.

All aspirants are also expected to procure an expression of interest form at the cost of one million naira only.

The PDP further announced that sales of forms will end on the 4th of May, 2026, while the last day for the submission of forms will be Saturday, 9th May, 2026.

The notice further stated that screening of aspirants for the national and state assemblies will hold on Monday, May 11, 2026, while that for presidential and governorship aspirants will hold on Tuesday, May 12, 2026.

The notice also disclosed that the appeals committee will sit on Wednesday, May 13, for governorship and presidential aspirants, while that for national and state assembly aspirants will sit on Thursday, May 14, 2026.

Recall that the party, at its 108 th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, held at Wadata House, Abuja, last Monday, approved the timetable and schedule of activities for the 2027 general election.It was also observed that the timetable was closely aligned to enable the party to complete its activities within the time frame specified by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
