President of the United States, Donald Trump, has announced an indefinite extension of the current ceasefire with Iran as diplomatic efforts continue.

Trump made the announcement on Tuesday in a post shared on his Truth Social platform, stating that the United States would maintain its naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz while negotiations remain ongoing.

According to the US President, mediators from Pakistan requested that the United States delay any planned military action to allow Iranian officials time to present a unified proposal.

He explained that the US military had been instructed to sustain the blockade while remaining fully prepared for any further developments.

“I have therefore directed our military to continue the blockade and, in all other respects, remain ready and able, and will extend the ceasefire until such time as their proposal is submitted and discussions are concluded,” Trump stated.

The latest decision comes only hours after Trump reportedly told CNBC that he was reluctant to prolong the ceasefire and warned that bombing operations could resume if talks failed.

He also reiterated that Iran would have limited options but to accept an agreement as negotiations progress.

The renewed extension signals continued diplomatic engagement, even as tensions between the United States and Iran remain high.
