Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has appointed a Chairman and Commissioners for the Gombe State Electricity Regulatory Commission (GOSERC) to drive power sector reform and strengthen the state’s electricity market.

The appointments, with effect from 21st January 2026, were earlier forwarded to the Gombe State House of Assembly, which has since confirmed them in line with the enabling law establishing the Commission.

Conveyed the Governor’s approval, in a statement issued by Ismaila Uba Misilli, Director-General of Press Affairs, Government House Gombe, the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, said the constitution of the leadership team for GOSERC is in furtherance of Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s commitment to building a robust, transparent and investor-friendly electricity market in Gombe State, in line with the opportunities created by the ongoing decentralization of Nigeria’s power sector.

The appointees are: Dr. Usman Abba Arabi, mni – Chairman, Gombe State Electricity Regulatory Commission

Engr. Sule Usman – Commissioner, Technical Regulation; Abubakar Sa’ad – Commissioner for Economic Regulation; Engr. Ahmed Ibrahim Pindiga – Commissioner, Rural Electrification

Other appointed commissioners include: Lydia Ali, FCA – Commissioner, Finance and Administration; while Talatu Abubakar is the Commissioner for Legal and Licensing.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya expressed confidence that, with the calibre of professionals nominated to lead the Commission, GOSERC will provide the regulatory backbone required to improve service delivery, enforce technical and economic standards, protect consumers and stimulate investments in both urban and rural power infrastructure across the state.

The Governor also believes that the Commission will serve as a critical institution in driving the state’s power sector reforms, expanding access to electricity, particularly in underserved communities, and supporting the industrialization and economic development agenda of Gombe State.
