After hours of presentations by party stalwarts on the state of the party and the nation, the All Progressives Congress (APC) concluded its 8th National Convention, returning Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda as the party’s national chairman.

Apart from Yilwatda, the ruling party picked Surajudeen Basiru as its National Secretary. 

The duo and other members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party were elected via a consensus arrangement ratified by delegates at the convention, which held Friday night at the Eagle Square, Abuja..

The Convention Election Committee announced the members of the NWC during the 4th Elective National Convention of the party.

Other member of the NWC elected, included, Felix Morka, Publicity Secretary and Dayo Israel, who retained his post as the National Youth Leader.

Yilwadta in his acceptance speech, stated that his re-election is seen by him as a call to serve, expressing his gratitude to the APC leadership andembers for the opportunity.

“We are ready to serve, ready to lead, and we are ready to build the party, together with the nation, and with you,” the Plateau-born said in his acceptance speech.

He promised that the NWC will not “fail, or falter” in their assignment.

The convention, brought in party leaders, including President Bola Tinubu; Vice-President Kashim Shettima; leaders and members of the National Assembly and all the governors in APC-controlled states, among other key party stakeholders.

At the event attended by over 8,000 delegates, Tinubu told the gathering that the country is on the right track with blossoming economy, promising to continue to make life better for Nigerians.
