… Approves appointment of Adegbenro as Acting CEO of Eko DisCo

By Gloria Akudoro

The Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Dr. Musiliu Oseni, has tasked specialized reporters covering the Nigerian power sector to leverage their access to information to promote robust industry reporting and better educate the public.

He made the call during a courtesy visit of the Power Correspondents Association of Nigeria (PCAN) to the Commission on Monday, March 23, 2026.

Dr. Oseni who welcomed the collaboration offer by PCAN, emphasised that informed media coverage is critical to securing public support for ongoing reforms in the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).

In his remarks, PCAN Chairman, Obas Esiedesa, commended the Commission for its improved digital transparency and proactive data dissemination.

He also reaffirmed PCAN’s commitment to enhancing the depth and accuracy of reporting in the power sector.

The visit follows the Commission formally approval of the appointment of Ms. Sherifat Adegbenro as the acting Chief Executive Officer of Eko Electricity Distribution PLC (EKEDP).

Aligned with the Code of Corporate Governance for the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry, NERC disclosed that the appointment ensures leadership continuity pending the DisCo’s appointment of a substantive CEO.
