Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has extended his warmest congratulations to Muslims in Nigeria on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, urging compassion, forgiveness, and unity. In a congratulatory message, Akpabio praised the faithful for completing the spiritual exercise of fasting and urged them to continue with philanthropic practices, emphasizing the importance of empathy, kindness, and generosity towards others, particularly the less privileged.
Similarly, the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, has rejoiced with Muslims in the country on the successful completion of the Ramadan Fast, urging all to sustain prayers for global peace. Senator Barau commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his efforts to stabilize Nigeria’s economy and tackle insecurity, and disbursed N157m to his constituents as part of his Sallah gesture.
The Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, also extended best wishes to all Nigerians celebrating Eid al-Fitr, emphasizing the need for peaceful co-existence and compassion in the face of recent challenges, including bomb explosions in Maiduguri, Borno State.
Senator Bamidele stressed the importance of recalibrating Nigeria’s strategy for countering violent extremism and terrorism, highlighting the need for investment in people, tolerance, and dialogue. He called on political, religious, and socio-cultural leaders to emphasize human capital development, basic education, healthcare, and nutrition.
The Senate has constituted an Ad-hoc Committee on National Security Summit to unravel the root causes of insecurity and is reviewing the 1999 Constitution to expand the powers of subnational governments to play a key role in security.
Senator Akpabio urged Muslims to cultivate compassion, promote understanding, and work towards a more just and harmonious Nigeria. Senator Barau emphasized the importance of spreading love and helping the needy during and after the festive period.
The Senate leaders’ messages reflected the collective commitment to promoting unity, compassion, and peace in Nigeria. They wished Muslims a joyous and peaceful Eid-el-Fitr celebration, praying for peace, progress, and prosperity in Nigeria and globally.

Similarly, Senator Abdul’aziz Musa Yar’adua has extended his warmest congratulations to all Muslims on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, praying that Allah accepts their worship and observance during Ramadan. He paid tribute to the Nigerian Armed Forces for their efforts in securing the nation and protecting citizens. Yar’adua emphasized the importance of values like truth, patience, forgiveness, and helping the needy in achieving sustainable development and peace in Nigeria.
The Senator urged Muslims to continue embracing these values and called on citizens to support government efforts to ensure peace and security. He rallied support for the Armed Forces, saying they will overcome insurgency and achieve lasting peace with their professionalism and dedication.
Also, Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar also extended warm felicitations to Muslims in Kwara State and across Nigeria, congratulating them on completing Ramadan. He urged Muslims to sustain virtues like patience, compassion, and generosity, and emphasized unity, peace, and mutual understanding among Nigerians.
Sadiq called on citizens to pray for peace, stability, and prosperity, and encouraged leaders and citizens to work together to address challenges like insecurity and economic hardship. He assured constituents of his continued dedication to effective representation and people-centered policies.
