Former Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong, is currently stuck in Qatar due to the escalating military crisis in the Middle East.

The 32-year-old recently joined Al Ahli SC after leaving Saudi Arabia in January, but with domestic football matches suspended and flights temporarily halted, he cannot leave the country.

Tensions in the Gulf have intensified following retaliatory strikes by Iran in response to operations by Israel and the United States.

Qatar Defence Ministry confirmed its air defence systems successfully intercepted missiles targeting Qatari territory as part of precautionary security measures.

The temporary closure of airspace in Qatar and neighbouring Gulf nations has left many foreigners, travellers, and professional athletes, including Troost-Ekong, unable to depart amid growing regional instability.
