Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume (Borno-South) has commended the efforts of troops of Operation HADIN KAI for their commitment and sacrifices, which led to the repel and defeat of some Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists, who attempted to infiltrate a military base and other surrounding settlements in Pulka Community of Gwoza Local Government Area in Borno state.

Some Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists attacked a military base and other locations at about midnight on Sunday, leading to the destruction of some properties, with no casualties recorded as at press time.

Ndume, while confirming the incident, said the timely reinforcement of troops from Kirawa, Ngoshe and Gwoza town, saved many lives and property during the terrorists’ failed invasion.

The former Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army, admitted that scores of the insurgents were forced to withdraw and fled in disarray, having realised they were overwhelmed by the troops’ firepower.

“I want to commend the efforts of Troops of Operation HADIN KAI for their commitment and sacrifices, which led to the repel and defeat of some Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists who attempted to infiltrate a military base and other surrounding settlements in Pulka Community of Gwoza local government area in Borno state.

“The timely reinforcement of troops from Kirawa, Ngoshe and Gwoza town saved many lives and property during last Sunday night’s terrorists’ failed invasion.

“It is good to be informed that scores of the insurgents were forced to withdraw and fled in disarray, having realised they were overwhelmed by the troops’ firepower.

“Let me also reiterate my call on the Federal government to equip security agencies, especially the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Air Force, with sophisticated drones, fighter jets and other technological weapons to end the over 16-year Boko Haram conflict in the North East and other criminal activities such as kidnappings and banditry that are so prevalent in many parts of the northern region”. Ndume stated.
