Cybersecurity: Maida, other experts head for IIC Africa inaugural meeting on digital policy

Dr. Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice-Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (EVC/CEO) of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), is expected to make a presentation at the inaugural meeting of the International Institute of Communications (IIC) Africa Chapter, scheduled for January 29, 2026.

The Chapter disclosed that the upcoming virtual meeting aims to examine the evolving cybersecurity landscape across Africa.

The forum will feature discussions on the development of coherent regulatory and policy frameworks, as well as strategies to promote collaboration in the sector, in addressing emerging digital threats.

According to the IIC Africa Chapter, “the stakeholder engagement is part of the Institute’s broader commitment to advancing dialogue on cyber resilience, connectivity, digital policy, and regulation across Africa”.

The virtual session will hold from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. West African Time (WAT), and will feature discussions targeted at strengthening cybersecurity systems across the African continent.

Also, AbdulHakeem Ajijola is listed as another speaker at the meeting, together with other key stakeholders and experts in cybersecurity, digital policy, and regulation.

Participants in the virtual forum will also explore the opportunities and challenges associated with building effective and resilient cybersecurity frameworks on the African continent.
