Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have recorded another major success in the ongoing Operation LAFIYA NAKOWA, with the destruction of several terrorist hideouts and recovery of arms, uniforms, and a motorcycle in Ibi Local Government area of Taraba State.

According to a statement by Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, the operation in following credible intelligence on the presence of terrorists operating around Badekoshi, Fajul, Kurmi, and Dampar villages in the area.

Acting on the tip off, troops deployed at Tapga Ngasawa village under Dampar District swiftly launched clearance operations in the identified locations. During the mission at Badekoshi, the soldiers engaged the terrorists in a gun duel, forcing them to flee toward Fajul village near the forest. The troops pursued the fleeing insurgents with superior firepower, compelling them to abandon their positions and escape deeper into the bush.

A search of the area led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, a magazine, one round of 7.62mm special ammunition, five rounds of blank ammunition, two fragmental jackets, two military camouflage uniforms, and a Jincheng motorcycle suspected to have been stolen during a previous attack at Tapga village.

The Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their professionalism and gallantry.

He urged them to sustain the momentum until all criminal elements are eradicated from Taraba State.

The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to ensuring the safety of law-abiding citizens and pledged to continue working with other security agencies and local communities to restore lasting peace in the state.
