The Enugu State Government has directed all former state executive appointees whose appointments have either been terminated or expired to return official and diplomatic passports previously issued to them.

The directive, which follows an instruction from the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) headquarters in Abuja, was contained in a public service announcement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, on Thursday, August 28, 2025.

According to the statement, the passports are to be submitted to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government at the Government House, Enugu, on or before Friday, September 5, 2025, for onward transmission to the NIS Enugu Command.

“This exercise is a matter of national protocol and strict compliance with immigration regulations, and it must be treated with utmost urgency,” Prof. Onyia stated.

He added that the cooperation of all affected persons is required to ensure a seamless process.

“Your full cooperation is respectfully solicited to ensure a smooth and seamless process,” the SSG said.
