* Now desperate to resume looting, says TSG boss, Yakasai

Former Deputy Governor of Edo State, Comrade Philip Shaibu, has launched a scathing attack on members of the opposition coalition, accusing them of wrecking the country during their time in power and now fighting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s efforts to rebuild Nigeria.

Speaking during a reception held in his honour by the Tinubu Support Group (TSG) in Abuja at the weekend, Shaibu described the coalition as a group of failed leaders whose only goal is to regain power and return to looting the nation’s resources.

“The coalition members are fighting Tinubu because he is trying to rebuild the foundation that they destroyed while in power. One of them even complained about being hungry — this is someone who was a Speaker and Governor for eight years. They broke the system, and now they are angry it’s being fixed”, Shaibu said.

The Director-General of Nigerian Institute for Sports (NIS) praised the Tinubu administration’s infrastructure efforts, particularly the use of concrete for road construction, calling it “an excellent innovation.”

Shaibu also cited Tinubu’s attempt to revive institutions like the NIS, established in 1974, as evidence of a serious rebuilding effort, noting that past governments allowed such initiatives to deteriorate.

“Tinubu is channeling savings from subsidy removal to states and local governments — that is real reform,” he stated, stressing that the only coalition worth supporting is one that backs President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

“The only genuine coalition we must agree to is a coalition for Asiwaju for 2027. Only he can fix Nigeria. These coalition characters should not be given a chance. They must be educated about what Asiwaju is doing. They make one weak argument, we counter with ten solid points”, he declared.

Echoing Shaibu’s sentiments, the Tinubu Support Group (TSG) Coordinator, Salihu Yakasai, also came down hard on opposition figures.

“The so-called coalition is nothing more than a pack of cards. Their only interest is to take over government and continue looting from where they stopped,” Yakasai stated. “We are where we are today because of them — failed governors, and some who spent eight years in the villa doing nothing.”

He said President Tinubu is currently “clearing the mess” left behind by those same politicians and expressed confidence in the administration’s trajectory.

“We are happy with your progress and achievements,” Yakasai told Shaibu, praising his loyalty to the Tinubu-led government.

The reception brought together political allies and supporters of President Tinubu, many of whom echoed calls for continuity and rallied behind the idea of a united front for the 2027 elections.
