The Federal Capital Territory Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has bestowed an award of Best Crime Fighter’s 2025 Award on the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Police Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu.
The award, was presented during the 2025 Press Week Lecture and Awards Ceremony held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja.
The NUJ during the award, recognised CP Orutugu’s “exceptional leadership, dedication to duty, and strategic approach to crime prevention and community safety in Anambra State”.
The NUJ, in its citation, commended CP Orutugu for his “professionalism, transparency, and unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law, which has restored public confidence and improved security across the State”.
CP Orutugu, while receiving the award, dedicated it to the gallant officers of the Command and reaffirmed his resolve to continue working tirelessly to ensure the safety and security of all residents and visitors in Anambra State.
To witness the award presentation include the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) represented by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi; the Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 7, represented by ACP Odugbesan O. and other senior officers and stakeholders of the State.
