Gunmen suspected to be herdsmen were reportedly engaged in a gun duel with military operatives near Tse Asha and Ukange villages in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

This happened days after a deadly attack by yet-to-be-identified gunmen in one of the IDP camps in the state left hundreds dead.

Sources hinted that the latest attack is taking place at about two kilometers from the Ortese Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp.

As of the time of filing this report, there is no statement yet from authorities.

It is also unclear whether causalities have been recorded so far in the ongoing gun battle.

Just earlier in the week, the Inspect General of Police announced that arrests have been made in the deadly Yaleweta community attack.

This was following an order by President Bola Tinubu during his visit to the state that those behind the attack should be apprehended.
