Kenya’s President, Dr. William Ruto, has expressed concern at the rate at which Nigerian men are marrying Kenyan women.

Speaking on the issue, Ruto questioned why Kenyan men seem to be inactive, allowing Nigerian men to take their place in the dating scene.

“I’m concerned that Nigerian men are marrying all the women in Kenya,” Ruto said. “I don’t know why Kenyan men are just sleeping and paving the way for Nigerian men.”

Ruto further joked that if this trend continues, Kenya might face a brain drain to Nigeria. “At this rate, we’ll be losing our best minds to Nigeria,” he added.

In a surprising revelation, Ruto disclosed that his own daughter is married to a Nigerian man. “My daughter is married to a Nigerian man,” he said, seemingly proud of the union.

While some Kenyans might find Ruto’s comments amusing, others might view them as a lighthearted take on a sensitive topic.

Nonetheless, the President’s remarks have sparked a lively discussion about cultural exchange, relationships, and national pride.

It’s worth noting that international relationships and marriages are becoming increasingly common, and many people view them as a positive aspect of globalisation.

However, Ruto’s comments highlight the complexities of cultural identity and national pride in the context of modern relationships.
