As the gang-up against the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 thickens, former governor of Bayelsa State, Seriake Dickson, has cautioned Nigerians to be aware of a mega coalition spearheaded by former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, Nasiru El’Rufai, Rotimi Amechi and others, nothing that their 2015 coalition against former President Goodluck Jonathan brought more political and economic woes to Nigeria.
Prominent Nigerian political figures, led by Atiku, ex-Governors Peter Obi, Achike Udenwa, Rotimi Amaechi, Nasiru El’Rufai and others among opposition parties have recently joined forces to forge a formidable coalition to challenge President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
They have been holding strategic meetings and engaging in grassroots mobilization, seeking to broaden support across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones.
The coalition’s cohesive approach and persistent outreach see to underscore their determination to unseat Tinubu and reshape Nigeria’s political future.
The coalition during the 60th birthday celebration of Amaechi in Abuja on Saturday, renewed their resolve, allleging that the Tinubu administration has weaponized poverty so as to remain unchallenged in 2027.
But reacting to the development, Dickson warned the coalition apostles to be mindful of the choices they make, recalling the past conspiracy and coalition, which ended the regime of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Goodluck Jonathan from office in 2015, saying that it has not favoured Nigerians.
According to him: “When I came in here and climbing up here, I’ve seen a lot of you. And as my brother said, there are a number of you who are expert conspirators, who know how to assemble coalitions and then take out governments, as you did to my party in 2015.
“And when you did so, particularly to a clueless government, so-called, now 11 years down the line, we thought that there would have been no weaponization of poverty and that all the challenges of Nigeria would have been gone.
“And the only advice I can give, not being a professional coalition builder and conspirator as some of you are, is at this time, shine your eyes.”
