At least 50 people have been confirmed dead, with many others injured, following a deadly attack on Zike and Kimakpa communities in Kwall District, Irigwe Chiefdom, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The tragic incident happened on Sunday night, leaving residents in deep sorrow as survivors recounted the terrifying events. Homes were attacked and lives lost in what appears to be a planned and violent strike.

Danjuma Dickson Auta, Secretary General of the Irigwe Development Association (IDA), confirmed the attack during a phone conversation. He said, “An attack on Zike, Kimakpa community in Kwall District of Irigwe Chiefdom 47 confirmed killed with many injured.”

He further explained that the nature of the attack points to a carefully organized and deliberate assault on the community.

At the time of this report, no official statement had been issued by either the Plateau State Police Command or the Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) about the killings.

This latest incident follows another recent attack in Bokkos Local Government Area on April 2, where more than 50 people reportedly lost their lives.

The repeated killings have sparked serious concerns about the current security situation and whether enough is being done to protect lives in the region.

Local leaders continue to urge the government and security agencies to act quickly and effectively to end the bloodshed. They fear that if nothing is done urgently, the violence will persist and further destabilize peace efforts in the state.
