The Nigeria Police on Friday said Alhaji (Barr.) Hudu Yunusa-Ari, the Suspended Adamawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), has been granted administrative bail, while investigations subsist.

Yunusa-Ari was taken into custody for interrogations by the police in the course of investigations into allegations of impropriety during the supplementary gubernatorial polls in the state, after several days of hide and seek between him and the police.

He is expected to report at the Police Headquarters every weekday while investigations are on-going on the matter, a statement signed by CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer stated.

Ari pronounced Sen. Binani of the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the Adamawa governorship election, while collation was still on-going, a move that was immediately declared null, void and illegal by the INEC chairman, Prof. Yakubu Mahmoud.

Ari had also claimed that Binani gave him N2billion bribe to distribute among the INEC hierarchy, and later recanted.

When he was instructed to report to the INEC headquarters, he bluntly refused, just as he refused to show up at the Force headquarters, until a long time, then claimed from hiding that he did not receive any formal invitation, the period he refused to turn himself in to the police.

Inapite of all those, he was granted bail and permitted to go home.
