Former Governor of Enugu state and Senator representing Enugu-East in the Senate, Dr Chimaroke Nnamani, has congratulated his rival, Barr. Kelvin Chukwu, on his victory in the Saturday’s senatorial election.

Senator Nnamani contested the election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while Chukwu contested on the platform of Labour Party (LP).

Nnamani in the message said the outcome of the election reflected the wishes of majority of constituents adding, “the people have spoken”.

He explained that “the result of the election is in tandem with the rave of the moment in the South-East zone who have identified with the Labour Party. A contrary result would have negated the trend.

“I wish the Enugu-East senator-elect a successful tenure in the upper legislative chamber”.

He also told his supporters to remain calm and accept the outcome of the election in good faith.

Recall that few weeks to the election PDP had withdrawn the sponsorship of Chimaroke, saying they have no candidate for the post in the senatorial zone.

Nnamani had engaged in what was described as serious anti-party activity by openly canvassing votes for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, the President-elect, which the PDP considered as grave anti-party activity and expelled him from the party, and as well wrote the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), withdrawing his candidacy.
