The Imo State University of Agriculture and Environmental sciences, Umuagwo in Ohaji Egbema Local Government Area has urged the Federal Government to swiftly intervene following a fire outbreak which destroyed some staff offices in the university.
Prof Christopher Eze, the Vice Chancellor of the university made this passionate appeal when he recently conducted some staff of National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA round the University Campus lamenting that the institution was unhappy with the effect of the fire outbreak on the structures.
Eze, said that the management of the institution which he heads was committed to ensuring that both staff and students of the university had comfortable atmosphere for academic activities.
The professor of Agricultural Economics promised that under his watch, the university would be reckoned as one of the best in its areas of speciality.
According to him, ” these staff offices got burnt on January 25. We made efforts and men of the Federal Fire Service came and we were able to rescue the situation. But these ones got burnt. I therefore urge the federal government through National Emergency Management Agency to intervene. the university management is committed to conducive environment for academic activities for both staff and students.”
He appealed to the Federal Government through NEMA to come to the aid of the university informing that the fire outbreak destroyed their staff block offices causing them to lost some academic documents assuring that any intervention they get from the federal government would go a long way in cushioning the effects of the outbreak.
