The Executive chairman, National Population Commission (NPC), Nasir Kwarra has said the commission would deploy full technology in the conduct of the 2023 Population and Housing Census, scheduled to hold in March.

Kwarra, who disclosed this in Abuja on Thursday during the inauguration of the National Census Publicity Committee, stated that the census exercise would be conducted in the country to meet international best practices.

He maintained that the exercise would take place simultaneously in every household, nooks and crannies of the country, irrespective of the challenge of insecurity in some parts of the country.

The chairman explained that the exercise needs proper education, mobilisation and orientation, even as he charged the committee to ensure that they have full support for their activities.

Kwarra said the commission would be relying on the expertise and structures of the committee to drive the message into every home and household to drum up support and participation in the 2023 Population and Housing Census.

He thanked President Muhammad Buhari for his assistance to the commission, even as he assured that the commission would deliver on this historic mandate, adding that no one would be left out in the entire exercise.

According to him, “I wiish to use this opportunity to reassure my fellow country men and women and the international community that the National Population Commission is irrevocably committed to ensuring that everything about the 2023 census is done rightly and professionally.

We have the clear vision, commitment and capacity to deliver on this historic mandate.”

Speaking earlier, the minister of information and culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, who is also the chairman of the committee, said members are determined to support the activities of the commission.

Mohammed assured that the committee would use all the media platforms of the ministry to support the activities of the commission.

He stated that the activities of the committee would be replicated in all states of the federation to ensure that the message gets to the grassroots.
