Croatia on Friday evening, December 9, landed in the semi-finals of the on-going World Cup in Qatar after beating round leather favourites, Brazil, in penalty kicks.

The match ended without producing any goal after the regulation time, but Brazil seemed headed for victory when Neymar scored during extra time (105th minute).

But, their joy was shortlived when Croatia equalised through Petkovic, in the second half of the extra time (116th minute).

After both sides failed to move beyond a goal apace, leading to penalty kicks, the Croatians won 4-2. They scored all four of their spot-kicks.

As for Brazil, Rodrygo, who took his team’s first kick, was denied by the brilliant  Croatian goalkeeper, Dominik Livakovic, while’s Marquinhos’ crucial fourth kick struck the post and got flustered.

That sealed the hopes of the giants and sent Croatia into the semi-fanals, where they will meet the winners of the match between Netherlands and Argentina.
